Power Outage Information

Power outages can be stressful. If you experience a loss of power, don’t panic! Whether you’re a Peso Power customer experiencing a power outage, or a customer planning ahead and wondering what to do should an outage occur, we are here to help.

Let’s take a look at some very important power outage information regarding your Peso Power electricity plan in Texas.

Who should I call if a power outage occurs?

In the event of a power outage due to a storm or other inclement weather, downed power lines, or any other reason (excluding a missed payment), DO NOT call Peso Power. It is important to note that Peso Power does NOT own the poles or the power lines, and we do not distribute electricity.

Instead of contacting Peso Power, please contact your local electricity transmission and distribution provider.

Below, we have listed the various Texas utility providers you can contact during a power outage. Rather than waiting to try to access this list when an outage occurs (since your power will not be working at that time) a good piece of advice is to print or save this information NOW so that it can be accessed easily when you need it.

AEP Texas Central: 1-866-223-8508
AEP Texas North: 1-866-223-8508
Centerpoint Energy: 1-800-332-7143
TNMP: 1-888-866-7456
Oncor: 1-888-313-4747

What should I do once my power is restored?

When your power is restored, there are certain steps you should take in order to get things back up and running again in your home.

  • When the power comes back on, wait a few minutes before plugging everything back in as you could encounter power surges.
  • Turn on essential appliances first and then gradually turn on other electronics.
  • Reset digital clocks, timers, alarms, network routers and other essential items.

Stay Safe!

Power outages are not only inconvenient—they can be dangerous! Peso Power wants our customers and their families to stay as safe as possible in the event of a power outage. Please read the important tips below to stay safe and sound until power has been restored.

  • Stay away from all downed power lines. You should always err on the side of caution and assume that any power line you see on the ground is energized, so keep your distance.
  • In addition to staying a safe distance away from a downed power line, it is also important to remember not to attempt to pick up or remove any debris within 10 feet of the power line. The reason? A downed wire may be hidden underneath the debris! Leave the debris cleanup to the professionals.
  • Children and pets should be kept inside after a storm. They are more vulnerable to possibly coming in contact with a deadly downed power line.
  • After a storm or other inclement weather has occurred, it is also important to remember to stay away from all standing water that may be located near any wires or appliances.
  • Do you have an electric garage door? If the power is out, remember that your garage door won’t open on its own. Keep this in mind so that you can have a door key with you to re-enter your home after you leave.
  • If you wish to operate your electric garage door manually, you can pull on the emergency release cord and push the door up by using the lift handle.
